United by a common wildflower meadow and designed to entice grown children and young grand-children into quality time at home, each of these buildings serves an autonomous function in place of a large, single building that they might together have become. This modestly-scaled family compound contains a four-bedroom cottage, three-car garage, and two-bedroom studio. The entire project was designed and constructed based upon the principles of reduced energy consumption, recycled materials and renewable resources, improved indoor air quality, and harvesting energy from the site. The project has been awarded a LEED silver certification under the LEED for Homes Program.
