MacKenzie rejoins the DSK team for a fourth summer as a Senior Architectural Intern. He received a Bachelor of Science in architecture from Roger Williams University where he was also a member of the sailing team. Upon graduation, his love of sailing led him to the Britsh Virgin Islands where he lived for four years working as a watersports instructor at Necker Island and as a guest services coordinator at Moskito Island.
In the BVI, MacKenzie was introduced to the team from Kao Design Group and in 2016 he returned to the States to intern for KDG before starting his Masters in Architecture at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. His work at Harvard has largely focused on merging the ideas of biomimicry, sustainability, digital fabrication and business. Tailoring a curriculum between the GSD and Harvard Business School, MacKenzie seeks to find the unique opportunities in the designable realm. In the fall, MacKenzie will complete his thesis: a hurricane-adaptive, mobile resort in the British Virgin Islands.
MacKenzie brings to DSK the industry expertise of Caribbean hospitality and a wealth of BVI knowledge. Out of the studio MacKenzie can be found training for triathlons or pursuing some water-based activity.
