Duke enlisted DSK’s help in defining an ideal architectural space program and evaluating the level of investment necessary to rehabilitate Lilly Library to contemporary standards. The resulting Feasibility Study outlined a space program in line with the Library’s goals for furthering partnership in research, teaching, and learning on East Campus, home of the First-Year Residential Experience and several academic departments. The Feasibility Study also addressed the replacement of Lilly Library’s aging building systems, code compliance issues, and outlined the cost of extending the useful life of the building. The Feasibility Study Report was submitted September 2015 followed by an Addendum in July 2016 exploring further options.
