The David Center creates a dynamic innovation platform for ocean engineering and underwater vehicle development at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution [WHOI]. Located on WHOI’s Quissett Campus, this multi-disciplinary 50,000 GSF facility is home to the newly established Autonomous Vehicles and Sensor Technologies (AVAST) program which catalyzes WHOI’s varied research enterprises. AVAST allows WHOI to rapidly develop, prototype, and test new approaches in resource-rich engineering laboratories. The David Center offers approximately 10,000 SF of flexible development space, fostering program growth through internal and external collaborations. The building also houses the Mooring Lab and Advanced Fabrication Lab. Collectively, this new hub brings scientists and engineers together to accelerate breakthroughs in oceanographic research.
