A renovation to a very simple but grandly scaled home on a gracious Elm Street parcel.
The main house had evolved very little since its construction late in the 19th century except for some additions to house garage and mudroom-oriented functions. Our reconfiguration of the interior spaces worked from a vital rethinking of the kitchen and baths outward.
On the exterior, the house had a conspicuous and expansive unadorned ‘forehead’ amplified by the gambrel forms. Our project rebalanced the facade’s scale with gables high on the roof.
