Built on a steeply-sloped site, this house replaces a 1960s era home in an exclusive neighborhood outside Boston, MA.
The style of the new house is based upon formal early 20th century country houses with attached garages. The front facade appears as a center entrance, with a semicircular portico and blind arches around the ground floor windows. The rear facade has an expansive deck with Chippendale railings that overlooks the sloping lawn and old-growth trees.
A lead-coated copper hip roof behind a parapet wall tops the main house. The attached garage with mansard roof and board-and-batten walls recalls a classic carriage house and motor court that would accompanied a small country estate.
