This lakefront home takes inspiration from the architectural character and identity of New England. The challenge was to design a home which met the needs of a growing family and would settle into the site as though it had always been there. As a result, the mass of the home is broken down spatially into three sections which represent a little house, a big house, and a barn.
The entryway is a unique hexagon shape where the three sections converge creating a natural separation of private and communal spaces. The material palette helps celebrate the distinct forms and the New England locale, including lumber from the site used to enhance the interior ceiling of the barn. The interior spaces are sunlit and offer expansive views of the lake.
