Located only blocks from the world-class metropolitan city of Nairobi and on just 1/10th of an acre, the proposed new community center provides clean water, a health clinic, restrooms, and energy to a community that previously had neither running water nor electricity.
Innovative solutions using renewable energy sources provide power to the site: Photovoltaic panels power 80% of the capacity and biodiesel generates the rest. Solar hot water provides the hot water for washing up. Human waste is sustainably treated on site and a generator powered by food-waste bio-fuel provides supplemental power to the Center.
